Hello! Well it’s the hottest week ever here in San Diego which means many of you may be seeing temps start to cool down! Typically our hottest months of the year here are September and October- it feels like Summer even though the leaves start to change. I have a love/hate relationship with it. One one hand, I can never complain about the weather here (I grew up in the Midwest after all!) but on the other hand, I miss the Seasonal change during the appropriate time, lol. One of the many things I love about living in Southern California is actually being able to wear transitional clothing for months on end. Because once it cools off here, it usually stays “cool”, never cold which I’ll take any day over a February in Chicago.
Having said that, this probably means that you’ve got Fall fashion on your mind like me! Fashion week is next week, September is upon us, back to school is in full swing and I LOVE getting inspired by the colors, fabrics and style that comes with the changing of the Season. Today I’m going to share a few pieces I got that you can easily wear NOW and later. I’m not ready for OTK suede boots but I AM ready to throw on some camel booties with my jean shorts. BTW, by adding maybe 4 more pieces, you could totally create a capsule wardrobe out of this collection which is super fun to me. You don’t ever have to buy a lot of THINGS to create a wardrobe- that is so not my MO. Ideally you buy things you can mix and match for several years to come! Ok let’s break it down…
1.) Felt Hat– So many of you were bummed that you missed out on this hat from the Nordstrom Sale. It has yet to be restocked but I found an almost exact hat for you here. Throw this hat on ALL. THE. TIME now and in the fall. The blush color goes with everything and if you haven’t washed your hair for 3 days and still want to look chic, this is the way to do it. A hat adds so much dimension, texture and STYLE to an outfit yet I find people shy away from them out of feeling like they’re “too much”. WORK that hat! My husband personally does NOT like me in hats (or red lipstick or Mom jeans). I get it…he’s not going to love everything I wear but I love them so I wear them anyway and you should too. Yolo.
2.) Pleated Midi Skirt– Ugh, WHEN will this leopard one get restocked? Found some similar ones for you here (love the snakeskin), here and here but a pleated midi skirt (any color or print) can easily be worn with a knotted t-shirt and sneakers OR dressed up with heels for date night. This is a wardrobe MUST HAVE. Here are FOUR blog posts I’ve written over the last few years that highlight different ways to wear midi skirts: 1, 2, 3, 4.
3.) Camel Open Front Sweater Blazer– If you were around last year, you know I LIVED in this. Like for real. It is so cozy yet looks structured. Perfect for the office or if you’re a teacher and need to look pulled together yet feel comfortable. It comes in several colors and I just saw that it comes in a longer version which is in my cart right now. AHHH it is so good.
4.) Plaid Blazer– This is a fun trend to try! This look is meant to be oversized. Also perfect for the office, date night or wear it now styled with a graphic t-shirt underneath and your favorite cutoffs! SO cute.
5.) Suede Moto Jacket– This staple has been in my closet for several years and I have to say…I never get tired of it. I throw it over everything from midi skirts to jeans and love the texture of the suede and the beautiful color!
6.) High Low Sweatshirt– I snagged this recently and you will not believe how cozy it is on the inside! Like a cloud. This is long enough to cover your bottom and looks so cute with leggings, biker shorts, cutoffs or jeans!
7.) Suede Booties– Everyone needs a classic bootie. Wear them now with dresses and cutoffs and later with jeans and sweaters!
Have you started wearing Fall inspired clothing yet?! As always, thank you so much for following along! xo
