What a freaking week! Coco and I were both not feeling great but we’re on the mend and SO ready for the weekend. I feel like when you or someone in your fam is sick, everything gets thrown off. I was bummed that I missed 3 workouts during the week after being on such a good, solid stretch. In other news, you may have seen on my Stories that I’m giving up sugar for lent- I got so much feedback from you guys on this! So many of you have decided to do the same (awesome) and a few had some questions. Most importantly, this does NOT include giving up wine. Ha, I could never!
That’s a lie, I could and to be honest, I’m trying to drink way less during the week. I would regularly have a glass of wine at night and now I probably drink a glass 3 nights each week. Why? Ugh, a few reasons…first, when I went through my scare with finding the lump in my breast, my surgeon stressed the important link between breast cancer and alcohol consumption. Ouch. She mentioned it again at my follow up a few weeks ago. So it’s in my brain as something I can control, that could possibly lower my risk of breast cancer.
I’m also all in with this book right now which is blowing my mind in many different ways. Dr. Gregor goes into the risks and benefits of alcohol as well as so let’s just say, I’m trying, ha! He also has me ready to go plant based again. But the thought of giving up Shake Shack is so sad. I guess everything in moderation, right? The problem with me is that I can’t seem to keep it moderate. In fact, when it came to a box of Samoas and a bag of Cadbury mini chocolate eggs this week, it was downright excessive. Hence, I’m saying goodbye to sugar until 4/18! Did you give up anything for lent?
In other news, I must share 3 new beauty products I’m currently obsessing over with you guys. Maybe it’s the weather, maybe it’s my age…maybe it’s two kids and a huge sleep deficit. I don’t KNOW but lately my skin has been looking like it needs some major help. So I snagged a few new products to try and I’m hooked!
Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream– The Charlotte Tilbury team sent this over a few months ago but I was still using my La Mer. When that ran out, I decided to try this cream- I was curious since it’s begun to gain quite the cult following on social media. It is luxurious, hydrating and truly feels like magic on your skin. I use this as my night cream as it is really rich but I have loved it so far. I also think for a great night cream, the price point is worth mentioning.
Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench Moisturizer– This has become my day cream. It’s lightweight and just hydrating enough without feeling greasy at all. It goes on beautifully under sunscreen and makeup and has been a lovely addition to my skincare routine. For years I was using Aveeno or Murad (and still love it!) but I thought it was time to branch out and try something new with some additional anti aging ingredients.
Peter Thomas Roth Un-Wrinkle Pads– These pads. Whoa. First, let me say that I found them on a blog post Andee Layne did. She swore by them so I decided to try them out. They’re a mild acid exfoliating pad. And let me tell you, the first few applications were very drying. My skin peeled a LITTLE. But once it got used to the product it was GLOW CITY. Like I noticed a real difference in texture, glowiness (not a word) and a general reduction in blah face shall we call it? I don’t know, my skin just looked so much better. I use them several times a week and HIGHLY recommend!
Any skincare goodies you’re obsessed with right now? As always, I’d love to know and thank you so much for following along! xo
