Gotta love some sequins this time of year. I remember a few years back, Anthropology had an amazing sequin skirt for the Holidays and I STILL regret not buying it- luckily my friend Jenna snagged it- more on that later! But it was THAT good. Tis’ The Season for sequins and Holiday glam! I love that it is totally appropriate (and encouraged by people like me) to really glitz it up in December and January.
I’ve had a few sequin pieces over the years and I promise, you put them on and instantly feel festive and ready for a party. That’s why this week, I wanted to do a post dedicated to sequins and how to wear them. I’m also adding my favorite sequin pieces below! The moment I laid eyes on this skirt, I knew it had to be mine! I got it on sale (it’s currently 50% off!) and fell head over heels! Something about it just makes me happy.
When I wear sequins, I tend to opt for pieces with a classic silhouette (like a pencil skirt). I paired this skirt with a simple black v-neck sweater tucked in so that the skirt could have its moment. My advice is to simplify the parts of your outfit that are NOT sequin to allow the sequin piece to really stand out! Another way I’d style this skirt is with a chunky knit sweater- adding something a bit more casual sort of dilutes the intensity of the sequins and is a great way to bring your sequins out in a more relaxed way. Want to see more ways to style a sequin skirt? I’ve teamed up with a handful of my favorite San Diego bloggers all with unique styles- from a bold fashionista to a color obsessed artist and everything in between to showcase how they would style a sequin skirt. Check out my Instagram post today so see more and be sure to read their blog posts on this topic below! As always, thank you so much for following along! xo
