Griffin’s Nursery

Happy Monday!  In lieu of our usual Mom Talk Monday, I decided to share Griffin’s nursery today!  This has to be one of my favorite rooms in our home…not to mention, it’s one of the only room’s that is actually finished.  I’ve decided to really take my time decorating our home because I want to get it right.  It’s so easy to FILL a space…but I’ve found in the past when I’ve done that, I’m never fully satisfied because it’s not exactly what I want.

We got Griffin’s furniture delivered to our old home when I was pregnant so I’ve definitely had time marinate on my ideas for his room.  However, he didn’t fully move into his room (and out of ours), until last month.  We decided (thanks to many of you) and pretty much EVERYONE, to keep the soft grey paint that was in this room when we moved in- despite my desire to paint it white dove like everything else, ha! So I kept it and worked with the grey even though it wasn’t what I had originally intended on doing.  The baby animal theme always called to me- I’m an animal lover and was so obsessed with these prints but I couldn’t deal with the price tag.  So you can imagine my excitement when I came across these large scale baby animal prints! I actually purchased them with intentions on using them in our playroom but when we held them up in Griffin’s room, they just looked perfect, so again, we went with it!

I really think the key with decorating is SCALE.  These prints are BIG.  Oftentimes, I find that it’s better to go bigger when it comes to decorating…actually, several designers have told me this and I’m trying to keep it in mind with this house.  Which brings me to that back corner in Griffin’s room…I got this giraffe while I was pregnant with him.  It was a score from a neighbor who was changing the decor in their little girls room!  I was super excited because I had a giraffe just like this in my room as a little girl so cue the #nostalgia.  I stuck the giraffe in that corner where the tent is now, thinking “voila!” and it looked bad…even though it was a BIG giraffe, it just wasn’t wide enough to fill that corner.   So I decided to try our tent in that corner…and suddenly the room totally came together!  It filled that space perfect and seemed like it was meant to be near the black and white prints- especially that precious panda. As always, thank you so much for following along! xo
