Mom Talk Monday- 5 Month Update

Hi Friends!

Happy Monday! We are still unpacking- will I ever NOT say that in a post? Lol.  I have yet to find my pillow shams, my computer mouse was missing in action for a few weeks but I’m ramping up on the home organization and decorating (more to come on those later!).  As much as I want everything done NOW, I’m trying to take my time with this house.  I don’t want to decorate it multiple times and am focused on getting it right for us.  So enough of the home stuff- let’s focus on Baby Griffin!  5 months.  It went by in a flash. No joke.  Griffin is the sweetest, most tender baby.  His demeanor is very laid back and knock on wood, the last 5 months have been really easy with him.  We’re so grateful for that considering all of the other changes we’ve had going on! He rolls over, loves to eat, chew on teething toys, giggle, grab his toes and watch Coco.

I’ve allowed him to create his own schedule (with Coco I was psychotic about monitoring every feeding, diaper change and nap) and he’s fallen into a really great pattern.  He wakes up for the day between 5-6AM and naps every 2-3 hours thereafter until he goes to bed at night around 7 or 8PM.  I’ve nursed him to sleep (sacrilege, I know!), but this week I’ve started to put him down for naps awake, and not fed and he’s done great (less than 2 minutes of fussing). He is obsessed with going for walks in his stroller and will happily snooze there, in the car or in his bassinet.  We haven’t started solid foods yet because I personally don’t see any reason to nutritionally at this point (my ped has agreed).  We started Coco at 4 months and although the photos of her with food all over her face were cute, she didn’t really get into (as in actually eat) until 6 or 7 months. At this point, I don’t need to spend the money on food nor do I have time to clean up the epic messes! I’ll revisit this next month at his 6 month well baby check and let you know what we decide.

In other news, he has lots of new favorite things I’m excited to share! He LOVES this frog seat which came highly recommended from many friends.  I also keep Coco’s old Bumbo in our bathroom and put him in it when I’m getting ready in the morning.  His favorite teethers are this and this (no teeth yet but lots of drool!), he still loves to lay under the Dock-A-Tot and play with his toys. And no post would be complete without some fashion talk!  As a fan of all things royal, I was so excited to hear that JoJo Maman Bebe was available to purchase in the United States!  I was introduced to the brand when I saw Duchess Kate wearing this fabulous maternity jacket.  How CLASSY IS THAT?! Total maternity goals.  They make maternity, baby and children’s clothing.  The quality is beautiful, the designs are darling (these are my fave leggings!) and the prices are very reasonable.  I was praying for rain so I could photograph Coco in this yellow rain jacket but in true California fashion, it has been all sunshine.  But the MOMENT a drop of rain is in the forecast, Coco will be rocking this with her pink Hunter Boots.  Have a great Monday and as always, thank you so much for following along! xo
