The hardest person to shop for is Austin. He 1000% says the same about me even though he nails it pretty much every time. He’s kind of an expert at surprising me with gifts that I’ve always wanted but would never buy myself. For years I wanted a pair of nude patent leather Christian Louboutin pumps. But even though he would have probably been fine if I had pulled the trigger, that type of huge purchase never seemed “right” to me, so I would just talk about them incessantly and never buy them.
Then one Christmas Eve, when I was pregnant with a little babe who is now named Coco, he surprised me with them as we were heading out the door to church. I nearly fell over…and did I ever strut my belly into church with those red bottom heels on, happy as could be. Here we are three and a half years later and they are still my favorite shoes! Needless to say, I’ve NEVER been able to surprise him like this because he either has everything he wants or what he wants costs like, $5,000.
We have both agreed to never buy each other clothes because we always end up returning them in the end. However, there was one time that I totally nailed it… Austin always talks about how he does his best business thinking in the shower so I scoured and found the waterproof notepad below so he would be able to jot down all of those thoughts…I mean they’re called aqua notes…genius! He still says it’s one of the best gifts he’s ever gotten and I’m still patting myself on the back for discovering it.
Other gifts that I love to give him are experience gifts: concert or sports tickets, a round of golf at his favorite course or dinner at his favorite restaurant (Ruth’s Chris…we all win with that one!). In creating this gift guide, I pretty much took items that were on his Christmas list or stuff that he had or that my brother in law has, that I know any guy would like and built the guide around that. Most of these gifts would be considered practical which is my safe zone with gifts for guys! Let me know if you have any good gift ideas for the boys! I’m always looking for ideas. Happy shopping and thanks so much for following along. xo
