Remember when I was doing a 3 part series on Holiday party looks (you can check out the other two posts here and here)? I saved this one for last because a tulle skirt is one of those items that can pop out of your closet and help you when you least expect it. For example, when you have nothing to wear for NYE and don’t want to rock sequin bandage dress. Trust me, I get it. Last year, I purchased this black tulle skirt to wear in our Holiday card photo shoot and it’s been a piece I’ve leaned on in my closet ever since.
Although it may be intimidating in proportion, it’s actually one of the most flattering things in my wardrobe because of the waist line that it gives and also what it’s able to hide. Mine has an elastic band (umm, yay!) so not only is it comfortable, but even if you don’t typically tuck tops into skirts or pants, you can with this one without feeling like you’re wearing sausage casing. A tulle skirt can be worn with a variety of tops- like a crisp white button down, a chambray shirt, a glitzy jeweled sweater or a simple striped turtleneck but my goodness… does it ever shine during the Holiday Season! I wore this one to a high tea with girlfriends a few weeks ago and it was perfect. I’m also tempted to wear it for Christmas eve with a plaid shirt because wouldn’t that juxtaposition of glam tulle and laid back plaid be oh-so Carrie Bradshaw?!
Christmas is only a few days away and I’m actually done with my shopping and onto the wrapping. Coco has asked for a baby doll from Santa no less than 1000 times so I can’t wait to see her face in the morning when she opens up her ballerina baby doll. I do plan on trying to take some time off during and after the Holidays to unplug and enjoy my family. First I said two weeks, now I’m saying one week so who knows how long it will actually be but I just wanted to let you know in case you’re wondering why I’ve gone MIA! I hope you’re enjoying the Holiday Season and as always, thank you so much for following along.
