Happy Halloween!  We spent the weekend doing all things festive with Coco.  We went to a Pumpkin Patch and she was fearless on the little rides!  We carved our second pumpkin because our first one rotted in just four days with the heat and prepped for Halloween and attempted to relax while sweating about the Cubs!  Coco is dressing up as Minnie Mouse although I’m surprising her with the costume tomorrow so she doesn’t know yet and keeps telling everyone she’s Elsa.

I really wanted to wear this poncho to the pumpkin patch yesterday because hello…it’s allllll FALL-ish but it was way too hot.  The forecast said 71 degrees and I swear it was 85 and humid.  By the way, I’ve never owned a poncho until this one!  I guess I always thought that because I’m on the shorter side, I would drown in them and because I already run at a higher temp than most, I was sure I would always be sweating with all of that fabric.  The reason I jumped on this one was the gorgeous camel color.  I couldn’t resist it and I loved the drapey shape.

  1. My advice on wearing something voluminous like this on your upper half is to streamline below with skinny jeans or leggings to balance out the look.  These skinny jeans are my new favorites and I thought the wash would compliment the camel color well.  Although I’m rocking some heels for date night in this pic, I would 100% wear this outfit with my black nike’s for a casual look or OTK boots. Because it’s so neutral, there really are a ton of ways to dress this up or down depending on what your plan is for the day.

Let’s talk temperature.  Like I said…I run hot in general and the day I wore this was warm-ish but we were in the AC for dinner so I wore a simple t-shirt under it and was completely comfortable.  Now it’s time for my confession.  Occasionally when I link items for you to shop, I will add a similar item. This happens if my exact item is sold out or has low inventory or if I want to offer you two price points to shop.  When I was shopping for an additional poncho to link (the one I’m wearing has cashmere so the price point is higher), I came across this one.  To be totally honest, I prefer the material, cut and price point (it’s under 70!) to the one I’m wearing.  Not to mention the two color options are perfection.  So what I’m saying here is that if I had to do it all over again, I would buy this one instead and I’m secretly bummed it wasn’t available when I purchased mine.  Happy shopping, be safe tonight and as always, thank you so much for following along! xo
