Playing Dress Up with La Femme Chic Consignment

Recently I got a chance to play dress up for a day with the most fabulous little boutique in Solana Beach, La Femme Chic.  Have you ever shopped consignment?  Well before venturing into this little gem, I hadn’t and to be honest, the thought of wearing another persons old clothing wasn’t necessarily appealing to me. In fact, I pictured old musty clothing peppered with yellow pit stains.  Let me tell you that I’ve never been so wrong about something in my life.  La Femme Chic is about as far away from that as it gets.  In fact, it’s a glamorous sweet spot in the heart of Solana Beach that carries designer duds (consigned) at a fraction of what they would cost at the stores.  I’m talking Fendi, Chanel, Prada and Hermes. Yes, friends…yes.  Oh and btw, some of the merchandise is NEW with tags and did I mention…DISCOUNTED?  Mind blown.

On my first visit I scanned the racks and found tons of high end designer options but also brands like JCrew, Banana and Haute Hippie.  I was ecstatic!  Did I mention they had a pair of Chanel espadrilles? Because they did.  I left with a gorgeous white drop waist dress and an orange lace up dress (seen all too often on my Insta feed) and a hankering to make La Femme Chic a weekly stop.  How do they do it?  Well after spending time with their fabulous team I learned the gig.  Basically savvy fashionistas in SoCal buy and wear outfits for an event and don’t like to re-wear those items (unlike myself #repeatoffender).  So what do they do?  Have a La Femme Chic team member pop into their home and gather up all of those often worn once or even not at all goodies for people like you and I to shop at a discounted price.  Brilliant! Another common occurrence is when said savvy fashionistas do a closet purge like this one or this one.  They bring in their clothing to consign and make some cash to spend on new clothes! #winning

When La Femme Chic reached out to me and asked if I would style six looks for their Fall lookbook I jumped at the chance.  Why, you ask?  Because it’s not every day you get to play dress up in Hermes, Christian Dior, Fendi and the most fabulous, showstopping Oscar De La Renta dress I’ve ever laid eyes on. That’s why! I had an absolute ball shopping the store and pulling together Fall looks and I’m so excited to share it with you all.  See the Fall lookbook here and read about the behind the scenes fun here.  And if you’re in the San Diego area, a trip to La Femme Chic is an absolute MUST.  Tell them I sent you and use the printable discount coupon below to get 10% off of your purchase.  Here are three of the six looks I styled for their lookbook.  Stay tuned for another blog post with the other three fabulous looks!  Happy shopping and as always, thank you so much for following along. xo
