Did you guys have a nice weekend? We had friends over and made margaritas Friday night and got to enjoy a date night on Saturday! The weather was beautiful so we enjoyed some pool time with Colette on Sunday and prepped for an upcoming trip to NYC.  We’re heading out there to visit Austins’ brother, Adrian, who is in the Broadway cast of Wicked!  Umm to say I’m excited for this trip is a HUGE understatement.  Not to mention there are a handful of things on my 101 in 1001 list that I’m hoping to check off on this trip and the weather is supposed to be amazing.  Summer in the city. #can’t wait.

Speaking of weather, San Diego poses some interesting weather in May and June.  It’s typically cooler in the mornings, always cloudy or misty, and then it burns off by mid-day and it’s in the 70’s or 80’s and sunny.  They actually call it May Grey and June Gloom.  What can I say? You get dramatic when it gets cloudy and 65 when you’re used to perfection.  As you can imagine, this can make for some wardrobe issues as you’re constantly putting on and taking off layers in order to not freeze or sweat like a dog!  As a result, I feel like I’m ALWAYS on the quest for light, functional layering pieces that I can throw on over whatever I’m wearing.  I was shopping a few weeks ago and came across this gem and knew I needed it in my rotation.  The neutral color means you can wear it with anything in your closet, the fabric will not wrinkle so you can throw it in your carry on bag or in the back of your car and the tassels are on trend and pretty much to die for.  How about the length?  It covers your bum so throw it on over some black leggings without abandon (as I have for the last two weeks). I’ve styled this a bunch of different ways for dinners out, daytime and I’m certainly bringing it on the plane in case I get chilly this week.  For this look, I paired it with my favorite basic tank (this is the tank that I wear under EVERYTHING), and my favorite light wash jeans.  Mine are from last year and I’m super jealous that the updated pair (same wash/color) now has a frayed hem! Do you have a go-to layering piece? I’d love to hear what it is if so!

I hope you guys have a great week and as always, thank you so much for following along! xo
