Today we’re talking fitness trackers. About two years ago I purchased the Jawbone UP. I loved it and wore it religiously until after I had my babe in June. When it comes overall health and fitness I’m one of those people that is literally all in or all out. I’m either hoovering pizza and ice cream or working out six days a week and eating extremely clean. I gained almost forty pounds while pregnant but was able to lose the baby weight with daily walks and a pretty good diet (along with breastfeeding 24 hours a day). I do not miss a day of walking with my baby and dog but I’m ready for something more consistent in terms of cardio and weights. On the occasion that I would hit up a barre or spin class in the last few months I would feel so happy afterwards. My mood is literally transformed with exercise so I’m getting back on the workout wagon. To really jump start my motivation I decided to treat myself to a new fitness tracker. Like my first fitness tracker purchase, I did extensive research and decided to go with a different brand, the Fitbit HR. I wanted to love it…I really did. But it just wasn’t for me. I found it to be too bulky, physically uncomfortable and most disappointingly, inaccurate. Unfortunately for me, at the time I was wearing the Fitbit, my little peanut was waking up at least 2-3 times per night for feedings which I logged in an app on my phone. Needless to say, the Fitbit hugely overestimated the sleep I was getting…like by 4-5 hours. Not cool. I also didn’t find it to be nearly as user friendly as the Jawbone. In my sleep deprived state this infuriated me and I returned it and waited for the new Jawbone to be released. I’ve been happily wearing the Jawbone 24 for days now and love it even more than the original version. I find the accuracy to be nearly perfect with sleep and steps and logging in your food for the day is easy breazy. Fitness trackers aren’t for everyone but I find that if I’m tracking my activity and diet I’m just more aware of what I’m doing with my body and therefore make better choices. Is it the most fashionable statement? Definitely not. But I’m committing because I want to be as healthy as possible for my family! I hope you have a wonderful weekend and as always, thank you for reading!
Loved this post!! It's so me as well: all or nothing. You need to get the Nike Training Club app if you want to start incorporating weights back in your routine. I swear I haven't been to a gym in 2 years thanks to this app. It's that intense!!!
