Trend To Try: Pleated Skirts

Happy Friday!  And yay, I got two posts out this week! If you've followed along for a while, you know that I'm no stranger to pleated skirts.  In fact, I really have embraced the trend so much so that they've made an appearance in three different blog posts since I launched 2.5 years ago (this outfit last year was a fave of mine!). So how excited am I that this trend is still alive and well this year?  Really excited.

Let me tell you why I think they should be a crucial part of your wardrobe.  First, they really can be dressed up or down.  You can rock a pleated midi skirt with a plain white t, jean jacket and sneakers just as easily as you can with some fancy booties or heels and a camisole for date night.  Another way to wear this look is to put a cozy sweater (un-tucked or half tucked) over the skirt.  I also love a moto jacket like this paired with it to create the perfect juxtaposition of edgy and feminine.

The second reason I can't quit pleated skirts is because with a top tucked into them, they accentuate your waist and are extremely flattering (see how I did that in this post here).  That's one of the reasons I shopped for the perfect pleated skirt for our newborn family photos with Griffin.  I wanted soft colors (greys, whites, pinks) since it will be more of a lifestyle shoot so I purchased a blush pink/metallic to create a little shimmer in the photos.

The reality is, my body is not what it used to be and 7 weeks post partum, I still have about 10 lbs to lose so I'm counting on this skirt to hide that extra weight in the photos!  My favorite pleated skirts are pulled together for you guys below- don't even get me started on the gold one.  I think I may need to purchase it for the Holidays.  Have a great weekend and as always, thank you so much for following along!
