3 Closet Staples Worth Buying

How was your Memorial Day weekend?  We took Coco to our neighborhood party where she got to ride a choo choo train of which she then became completely obsessed and woke up from her nap crying and pleading for 'nother choo choo'.  So Austin and I did what any good parents would do and became determined to find another train.  The next morning Austin took her on the Coaster to downtown San Diego to meet up with me after my photo shoot!  She had the time of her life on the train with him! Cue the.most.epic meltdown when she realized that she had to travel home in a car, not via the glamorous railway.  I kid you not, she was having such a fit that we had to pull the car over. Oh Hiiiiiii terrible two's! Nice to finally meet you!  She's typically a really even tempered kid so this one caught us way off guard. Other than that little blip we had a great weekend and it was so nice having Austin home for an extra day!

Jacket: Blank NYC / T-Shirt: Lush / Jeans: TopShop / Bracelets: Alex and Ani / Shoes: Sam Edelman

Did you take advantage of any of the sales over the weekend?  I was so excited to share this outfit with you because somehow I've managed to fit all of my favorite things into one look.  I didn't do it on purpose, but when I look at these photos I think several things...first, and most importantly, I've really nailed the resting bitch face.  Can I SMILE? Guess not.  Second, this is my favorite jacket, with my favorite t-shirt (OBSESSED) and my favorite jeans.  I cannot claim these are my favorite shoes (it might be these ones) but I do love them and you'll be seeing them a lot in my photos over the next few months! The thing about this look is that it encompasses closet staples...those go-to items that you'll mix and match and wear over and over again for years.  Let's break it down:

(Faux) Leather Moto Jacket:  My bestie told me about this one (it's a Gucci dupe btw) and I ordered it immediately.  I'm sorry to say that the blush color sold out very quickly but the black is in stock and I've just ordered it as well.  Regardless of the color you choose, a moto jacket is something that goes with everything.  Toss it on over a printed dress, wear it with shorts and a dressy top for a night out or wear it with jeans and t-shirt like this look and pretend you're an off duty model a la Gigi Hadid.  The (faux) leather makes this piece something you can wear year round --I can't even count the amount of times I've worn mine already.

Gray T-Shirt:  I have found the holy grail of t-shirts.  It's this one and you need it in your life.  The fabric is so light weight and I love that it's a looser fit AND it covers your behind.  I bought it in grey and black and it has become my go-to top.  My travel uniform is always black leggings and a t-shirt with a long sweater and I've worn this one on every flight since I've gotten it. And pretty much multiple times per week. Just saying!

The Jeans:  Here they are again.  The jeans.  Yes, these are the ones. The ones you've probably already purchased in white.  The ones I wear religiously. I was thrilled when I found this color online and it was distressed!  So that rounds out my collection to four pairs...when you find something that works, buy it in multiple colors, right?! Most jeans are a LOT more expensive so that's how I justify it. Either way, loving this updated color for Summer!

What are your closet staples?  I'd love to know!  Have a great (short) week and thank you so much for following along! xo
